Eventually the old Solo Cup property will undergo a dramatic transformation and become an outdoor shopping center, but the property has undergone changes before.
In 1926, it was known as Maryland Baking Company. Plastic cups weren't manufactured until 1957, when the Maryland Cup Corporation was born.
Then, Maryland Cup became Sweetheart Cup, according to Answers.com. The full history is available here.
Ultimately, Solo Cup acquired, shut down and then sold the factory in 2011 Now, developer Greenberg Gibbons now has the property's future in its hands.
