Community Times Debuts New Format, Editor Steps Down
The Community Times, which has covered northwest Baltimore County for more than 80 years, reduces coverage area.
The Community Times, a weekly publication that has covered the news in northwest Baltimore County for almost a century, debuted a new format earlier this month. The newspaper also announced that editor Susan Ingram was leaving the publication.
In addition to a smaller size, the community paper has reduced its coverage area to Reisterstown and Glyndon. Its previous coverage included Owings Mills and Randallstown.
It will continue to run its regular features and community news articles in the new format.
Ingram praised the Times.
“As editor of the Community Times for 18 months, and before that, a reporter for 12 years, I have appreciated immensely the opportunity to cover and serve the county’s diverse and exciting northwest corridor,” Ingram wrote. “But new opportunities await, and along with our new format there will be a new leader and new energy at the Community Times.”
In a letter to the editor, Sen. Bobby Zirkin, Dels. Jon Cardin, Dan Morhaim, Dana Stein and Councilwoman Vicki Almond, said Ingram is “a role model for all journalists.”
“Susan has been a fixture, someone we rely on to keep us informed,” the letter said. “…Her role cannot be underestimated or under appreciated.”

Why is the coverage area just Reisterstown and Glyndon?

I can't speak for the paper, but I imagine with a smaller format, there's a smaller staff.

I just wanted to wish Susan all good things in her new adventures. She has been a true asset to our community and a friend as well. Whenever I attended an event, I knew Susan would be there! Her writing style and personality will take her far. We will all miss her in the neighborhood.
