Bloomin’ Artfest Names New Chairman

A Reisterstown resident with a spirit of volunteerism stepped up to chair the 2013 festival.

After Bloomin’ Artfest was cancelled in 2012 for a lack of volunteer manpower, someone has stepped up to make sure that doesn’t happen again in 2013.

Reisterstown resident Mark Stewart volunteered to head the yearly arts and crafts festival at a recent meeting. It was a simple decision for him.

“I’m sort of the volunteer type,” he said. “If something needs to be done I say, ‘Okay, fine, I’ll do it.’”

In other roles, Stewart serves as president of the County Club Estates Community Association and president of the BARC Park at Hannah More.

“I think if you don’t really get out there and put yourself out there, you tend to not know what’s going on with your next-door neighbor,” he said.

The Bloomin’ Artfest will be held on May 11. It features a variety of local artists, craftsmen and musicians on the grounds of Franklin Middle.

The next planning meeting for The Bloomin'ArtFest is this Thursday, January 31. We meet at Long & Foster, 321 Main Street in Reisterstown at 7 pm. All are welcome. We need volunteers, no experience necessary. There is much to be accomplished and we have something for you to do.
