In an effort to increase plant survival, members of Jemicy Upper School’s Sustainability & Environmental Design class are giving seeds an indoor winter head start with the help of the student-built hydroponics system. The hydroponics system keeps a constant low-flow stream of water cycling through a series of ramps upon which the plants sit. Once the seeds grow into sprouts they are transplanted to soil in pots, and in the spring the hardy plants will be planted in the school’s garden.
